Become part of Hawaii’s conservation story

Maui Forest Bird Recovery Project is driven by science and dedicated to the conservation of Hawaii's native forest ecosystems. Formed in 1997, our mission is to develop and implement techniques that recover Maui's endangered birds and to restore their habitats through research, development, and application of conservation techniques. We currently focus on recovering the Kiwikiu, an endangered honeycreeper. We estimate productivity and survival as well as identify the most limiting factors for the current population. In addition to our bird studies, we are also restoring high elevation dry-forest habitat on leeward Maui to establish a second-population of Kiwikiu in the future.

We are in need of some construction help. We are hoping to put in new windows at our office. We can buy all the materials but are in need of a volunteer to install everything.
