Part-time Native Plant Restoration Assistant
Approximately two - three days per week, depending on experience and knowledge. Flexible scheduling. Hourly rate is negotiable based on experience, knowledge, and skills.
Job description:
Assist with native plant restoration efforts
- Eradicate invasive species (herbaceous weed control and brush management) on slopes, stream banks, and in ponds
- Assist with trail making and trail maintenance
- Plant and maintain native groundcovers, trees, shrubs, and vegetative barriers as well as fruit trees and ornamentals
- Use organic pest control products and methods
- Fertilize trees, shrubs, groundcovers, and vegetative barriers
- Propagate plants
- Prune shrubs and trees as needed
- Weed whack adjacent areas, trails, etc.
- Assist with miscellaneous farm tasks
Other requirements for successful applicant:
- Fully vaccinated against Covid-19
- Able to work independently
- Attentive and able to communicate clearly
- Able to lift a minimum of 30 pounds
- Must have own transportation (Location is not on the bus line)
- No drugs, alcohol, or smoking on the premises
Preference for applicants who have knowledge of and experience with native Hawaiian plants
