Regular, Full-Time, RCUH Non-Civil Service position with the Pacific Biosciences Research Center (PBRC), Center for Conservation Research & Training (CCRT) and the Hawai‘i Conservation Alliance (HCA), located on the island of Oahu.  Continuation of employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, availability of funds, and compliance with applicable Federal/State laws. 

MONTHLY SALARY:  Salary commensurate with qualifications. 

DUTIES:  Coordinates and facilitates the Hawai¿i Conservation Alliance steering committee and sub-committees. Supports implementation of priority projects in coordination with the Hawai‘i Conservation Alliance Foundation (HCAF) and Alliance members and partners, which includes identifying and seeking relevant and appropriate grant funding opporotunities.  Manages project budgets and liaises with Alliance member fiscal officers and CCRT staff. In an effort to build an inclusive and cohesive network of researchers, conservation practitioners across the State of Hawai‘i will support implementation of activities and projects of the HCA that promote effective long-term management of native ecosystems and unified leadership on conservation issues critical to Hawai‘i. 

PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION/TRAINING:  Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Natural Science, Biological Sciences, Environmental Management, Social Science, Education, Public Administration, or a related field.  (Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university in Natural Science, Biological Sciences, Social Science, Environmental Management, Education, Public Administration, or a related field and at least one (1) year of relevant professional experience may substitute for a Master’s Degree).  EXPERIENCE:  At least four (4) years of experience in natural resource conservation related research, project management, environmental education, or community development. At least one (1) year of professional experience managing projects in a conservation field including, but not limited to, project design, work plan development, budget development and tracking, and report writing.  ABIL/KNOW/SKILLS:  Considerable working knowledge and understanding of current environmental/conservation issues in Hawaii. Thorough knowledge and application of the principles and practices of project development, policy, planning, and management of environmental/conservation issue(s). Knowledge of Hawaiian, Asian/Pacific Region, or other island ecosystems. Familiarity in developing and managing the grants reporting, fiscal plans, and budgets for projects and organizations.  Ability to resolve wide ranging complex problems using creative reasoning/logic to accurately determine the cause of the problem(s) and address resolution of the problems(s) in an effective, innovative, and timely manner.  Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information/ideas clearly and accurately in writing, verbally, and by preparation of reports and other materials.  Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team leaders, and members and individuals.  Proficient technological skills including MS Office Suite, website maintenance, and databases and social media applications.  Ability to supervise and lead two to three (2-3) subordinates, and contractors as needed. Proficiency managing multiple work priorities and employee relations.  Ability to present and communicate science and conservation topics and ideas clearly to various stakeholders.  Ability to manage the accounting and expenditure of research funds consistent with budget planning.  PHYSICAL/MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS:  Ability to lift and carry at least twenty to thirty (20-30) pounds. POLICY AND/OR REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS:  As a condition of employment, employee will be subject to all applicable RCUH policies and procedures and, as applicable, subject to University of Hawai‘i's and/or business entity's policies and procedures.  Violation of RCUH's, UH's, or business entity's policies and/or procedures or applicable State or Federal laws and/or regulations may lead to disciplinary action (including, but not limited to possible termination of employment, personal fines, civil and/or criminal penalties, etc.). 

SECONDARY QUALIFICATIONS:  Experience supervising staff. Extensive research symposia planning and coordination experience preferred.  Knowledge and/or understanding of UH and RCUH systems and rules/regulations and/or polices/procedures.
