Kohala Watershed Manager

The health of Kohala's watersheds directly impacts fresh and marine water resources in North Hawai‘i. To restore and protect the native forested watersheds of Kohala Mountain and nearshore coastal ecosystems, the Kohala Center is hiring a manager for its Kohala watershed programs. The manager is responsible for developing and implementing innovative watershed restoration and education projects in collaboration with our Kohala Watershed Partnership (KWP), TKC ‘āina-based managers, Ke Kumu ‘Āina culture-based educators, and other community stakeholders.

Essential job duties include project development and management, relationship building and communication, grant writing, budget management, data collection, evaluation, reporting, and management of KWP and field crew.

Knowledge of field work (including fence construction, backcountry camping, feral ungulate control, and propagating and outplanting native plants, and database systems and geographic information systems (ARCVIEW/GIS) is required. Knowledge and experience with Kohala natural and cultural environments including Hawaiian flora, fauna, biota, ecosystems, and watershed threats is especially desired. Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university in Biological Sciences, Resource Management, Planning or related field.
