Our Hospital Volunteer Program offers the opportunity to help with the day-to-day tasks required to operate the wildlife hospital. The majority of the work involves cleaning, laundry, animal food prep and keeping up with aviary and pool maintenance. If you have particular skills we may ask you to help us with special projects such as aviary maintenance, gardening, grounds upkeep, etc.
Hospital Volunteer Shifts:
Hospital Volunteer Tasks:
Cleaning (dishes, laundry, sweep/mop, enclosure cleaning/disinfecting)
Food preparation (patient diet prep, fish slurry prep)
Aviary Cleaning and Maintenance
Seabird Pool Cleaning and Maintenance
Orientation/Training:
Complete a Volunteer Application (off our website or in person) and then we will contact you to schedule a 1 hour Hospital Volunteer Orientation
Orientation will consist of:
Hospital tour: introduction to clinic and rehabilitation facility
Basic safety training for facility, cleaning and animal safety
Training for general volunteer tasks listed above
Review and sign agreement with State/Federal and HWC guidelines
