Hawai‘i Nature Center is a private, non-profit organization. Our primary mission is to provide hands-on environmental education programs to families and children that include wetland education programs. Volunteers help to restore wetland areas by removing invasive species and establishing habitat areas for the endangered Hawaiian water birds.
Wetland restoration work days will take place at Pouhala Marsh in Waipahu. It is located on Waipahu Depot Street across the street from the Police Training Academy.
Work will involve invasive plant removal. Please note:
• Bring your own work gloves and bottled water.
• Wear a hat, use sunscreen, and dress to get dirty, wet and muddy. Footwear (covered shoes or rubber boots) and long pants are required.
• Recommend a change of clothes, towel and rubber slippers for after the service project.
