Hawai`i Nature Center is a private, non-profit organization that provides hands-on environmental education programs to families and children. This includes outdoor, wetland education programs at various sites in the Pearl Harbor area. Volunteers help to restore wetland areas by removing invasive species and establishing habitat areas for the endangered Hawaiian water birds. Pouhala Marsh is located on Waipahu Depot Street across the street from the Police Training Academy. Volunteers must be 16 years or older to participate and must bring the following: Work gloves, water, hat, sunscreen, covered shoes/rubber boots, change of clothes, and plastic bag for muddy clothes. Be prepared to get wet, hot, and muddy!
