Become part of Hawaii’s conservation story
Join us at this site to help with pruning and planting native vegetation and removing invasive species. We will also spend some time conducting a plant propagation lesson by collecting native seeds from the garden and propagating them prepare for future outplanting.
Installed in 2014, WCC's largest eco-design feature boasts 3,000 square feet of rain gardens and native vegetation in front of Hale 'Imiloa. A rain garden is a deliberately built depression planted with vegetation that allows storm water from impervious surfaces to collect, briefly settle, then infiltrate into the ground. Rain gardens have the ability to reduce the amount of pollution entering streams and the ocean by intercepting storm water.
