Hui o Ko'olaupoko
Friday, July 30, 2021 from 9:00am - 12:00pm
750 Kaha St. Kailua, HI 96734
This project is a living example of how individual homeowners can help improve the local environment through the use of native vegetation and xeriscape gardens. The project replaced grass and invasive species along 150 yards of stream bank with native Hawaiian plants which can be used for soil stabilization, biofiltration and water conservation. Visitors can walk the garden pathways to see how plantings might appear in their own backyard.
Volunteers will be involved in clearing invasive plant species from the gardens using small hand tools and hand pulling weeds as we work to open areas for re-introduction of native plants.
Please RSVP by calling 277-5611 or email volunteer@huihawaii.org to secure a spot and receive directions to the meeting location. RSVPs are required for all participants due to the limited amount of volunteers we are able to host at the time. If your name is not on the RSVP list you cannot participate. RSVPs thorugh the Concervation Connection website will not get you on the RSVP list, so please make sure to call or email.
We offer a variety of regularly scheduled events each week please check our calendar at huihawaii.org to join us during the week. We can also work with groups to arrange a private weekday service trip or educational visit. The best way see what events we have coming up and which would be the best fit for you is by visiting the Get Involved page on our website and signing up to receive our monthly newsletter.
I look forward to working with you!
