Become part of Hawaii’s conservation story

Help prevent the newest, baddest weeds from damaging O'ahu's native forests and the important water resources they provide!

Volunteer with the O'ahu Invasive Species Committee in partnership with Lyon Arboretum in an ongoing effort to remove selected, high-threat invasive plant species that are found only at the arboretum before they have a chance to "jump the fenceline" into the native forests at higher elevations.

As a volunteer, your help will contribute to the long term goal of completely eliminating these species from the island before they have a chance to establish and do permanent harm.

NOTE: Volunteers will be hand-pulling plants and working off-trail in moderately steep to steep terrain with exposure to sun, rain, mosquitoes and muddy conditions. Volunteers should be physically fit for strenuous activity. Participants will be required to sign a waiver and provide emergency contact information.

What to Bring:

  • Daypack
  • Water (2 liters)
  • Lunch
  • Sturdy hiking shoes

  • Recommended: long-sleeved shirt & pants
