Become part of Hawaii’s conservation story

DLNR has recently removed over 1 mile of large invasive mangrove trees from the Kawainui Canal. Now we need your help to sustain that effort by removing mangrove seedlings and trash which was exposed after the initial removal.

Join HOK and DOFAW at Kawainui Neighborhood Park (750 Kaha Street) for a morning of mangrove and trash removal. Please wear shoes, long pants and a shirt that you don't mind getting wet and dirty! Also bring a reusable water bottle, reef friendly sunscreen, and insect repellent. We will provide tools, gloves, water for refilling your bottle, light snacks, and knowledge about the history and significance of Kawainui.
