Seeking two volunteers for three months to assist with field work and data processing for Hawaiian hoary bat studies on Hawai‘i Island. Volunteer duties may include: assisting in searches for and tracking of free-ranging bats using radio telemetry tracking and visual searches, roost searching in very dense vegetation and over rugged terrain, collecting vegetation and habitat metrics, video monitoring of bats at roosts, insect sampling, assisting with mist netting, and maintenance of field equipment. Data entry and processing duties may include: assisting in the collection, downloading and processing of data from automated telemetry tracking stations and acoustic and video monitoring stations; assisting in the collection, management and entry of data from the field to database. Volunteer will also assist in other aspects of the research study as needed. Operates a government motor vehicle. Volunteer must have valid driver’s license.
