The Pacific Fire Exchange (www.PacificFireExchange.org) has established four goals to achieve its vision of “reduced threat to ecosystems and communities in Hawaii and the US Affiliated Pacific Islands from wildfire”: (i) easier access to information sources; (ii) better and more comprehensive information; (iii) improved technical assistance; and (iv) a more collaborative information transfer environment.

Based at Hawaii Wildfire Management Organization in Kamuela, HI, the PFX Coordination Assistant will work closely with the PFX Project Lead, Dr. Clay Trauernicht, to complete the project deliverables outlined in the PFX Plan of Work.  The primary function of the PFX Coordination Assistant will be to assist with:

  • Direct communications with advisors,  partners, and stakeholders to achieve project objectives

  • Facilitation of in-person and web-based meetings, events, and workshops

  • Science education/communication product content development

  • Production of educational products, including layout, design, and dissemination

  • Logistical planning and note taking for field trips, meetings, and webinars

  • Dissemination and organization of program evaluation information

  • Maintenance of the Pacific Fire Exchange website, social media accounts, and electronic communications

  • Maintaining project momentum by tracking progress toward goals and deadlines

Position is part-time, 15-20 hours per week at $15-20 per hour, commensurate with experience.

Application deadline is May 15th, 2019 with anticipated interviews scheduled for May 20th-24th.

Preferred start date is June 17th, 2019
