The Hawaii Wildfire Management Organization (hawaiiwildfire.org) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Kamuela, HI on Hawaii Island. The organization works to protect communities and natural resources from wildfire through outreach, education, hazard reduction and land-use planning projects. The organization serves as a hub of collaborative wildfire activities in Hawaii and works proactively with partners and stakeholders of many types to achieve its mission.
HWMO is seeking applicants for the following position:
Program and Operations Assistant
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants should have experience with the following:
• Project management and implementation
• Written and oral communication, to include the development of presentations and educational materials
• Personnel management and supervisory duties
• Event planning and coordination
• Working with the public
• Ability to work in a team environment: excellent interpersonal skills, flexible, reliable, positive
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree+ in natural resource management, emergency management, or related field
• Driver’s license
• Ability to lift 30 pounds
• Ability to travel, work evenings and weekends as necessary for special events and programs
• Computer literacy- word processing, data processing
Desirable qualifications include the following:
• Previous experience within a nonprofit organization
• Grant proposals, grant management, and reporting
• Budget planning and tracking
• Facilitation experience
• Familiarity with the biota, ecological systems, and/or emergency management efforts in Hawaii
• Fundraising experience
• Design software and/or GIS
• Interest in increasing responsibilities over time for a higher-level position
