Mālama Wao Akua 2014

Mālama Wao Akua meaning Realm of the Gods is Maui’s only juried art show celebrating native species of Maui Nui 

Exhibition Dates: September 17th-October 22nd

Eligibility: Must be a Maui County resident. Artwork must be original, not previously shown. All ages and mediums are accepted.

Entries Accepted: Sunday, September 14th (5pm-7pm) & Monday, September 15th (9am-1pm)

Entry Fee: $5 per keiki entry, $15 per adult entry (Multiple entries encouraged)

Help the East Maui Watershed Partnership (EMWP) and Viewpoints Gallery celebrate their 10th annual juried native species art exhibit Mālama Wao Akua. We are calling on artists of all ages to use Maui’s native flora and fauna as the subject of their next masterpiece. The focus of the show is to raise awareness about native species on Maui Nui and the importance of our watersheds. Several educational opportunites will be made available leading up to the exhibit to help artists explore and become familiar with Maui’s native plants and animals.

 

Hikes specifically for artists in The Nature Conservancy’s Waikamoi Preserve will take place on Saturday, July 26th and Saturday, August 9th. The East Maui Watershed Partnership is committed to working to protect the East Maui watershed and preserving its fragile forested habitat. The nearly 120,000 acre East Maui watershed produces over 60 billion gallons of water a year and is home to many rare and endangered native species.
