Maui Mauka Conservation Awareness Training Event

We aim to Connect Conservation Professionals with Tourism Professionals to create a beneficial relationship in nature-based tourism as both can benefit from increasing the quality of interpretation and the level of awareness of Hawaiʻi’s unique natural resources.

These trainings focus on watersheds, native plants and animals, and invasive species. Presentations are simple, educational, fact-based and are taught by members of conservation organizations.

Each training provides:
 Facts and stories about Maui’s unique natural environment
 A guest speaker who is an expert in their field. 
 Take home sheets and guides to effectively communicate the wonders of Maui
 An opportunity to learn the most current information from professionals in their field

Allison Borell, Community Outreach and Education Liaison with East Maui Watershed Partnership
Lissa Strohecker, Public Relations and Education Specialist with Maui Invasive Species Committee
Laura Berthold, Ornithological Research/Logistics and Outreach Technician with Maui Forest Bird Recovery Project
Scott Fisher, Associate Executive Director of Conservation with Hawaiian Islands Land Trust

Take home goodies include stickers, guide sheets, coffee mugs, and more!

This training will be held at the Waihe‘e Coastal Dunes & Wetlands Refuge in Waihe'e. Training is free but donations are encouraged. We are a part of the non-profit, Na Koa Manu Conservation.
