Western Governors' Association Biosecurity and Invasive Species Initiative

Registration is open for the Western Governors’ Association (WGA) Biosecurity and Invasive Species Initiative (BISI) workshop on Biosecurity and Agriculture, December 9-10, 2018, in Kona. Governor Ige became chair of the WGA in July 2018 and has created the BISI to encourage dialogue and collaboration on biosecurity and invasive species issues across the western states, Guam, CNMI, and American Samoa. The scope of the initiative includes a data standardization and sharing effort, a series of workshops across the western US, and a series of collaborative webinars. More projects may be added to the initiative in the future.

The workshop itself will be on December 10, with potential field trips and a reception on December 9. Details for field trips are still being developed at this time. Registration closes November 16. The WGA workshops typically host around 80-100 people, though higher attendance may be possible if there is sufficient interest. To help us gauge attendance from those of us in Hawaii, please fill out the Google Sheet below in addition to registering. This will help us determine any logistical changes needed and will help ensure that a breadth of entities in Hawaii are able to participate.
