Become part of Hawaii’s conservation story

Mark your calendars!

What: Hoʻolāʻau: Communities Growing Trees Together is our new pilot program that will be using data collected by our Citizen Foresters to not only identify where we NEED trees in our community but also to PLANT trees in our community!

When: Tuesday, September 11th | 9am-11am

Where: Hoʻomaluhia Botanical Garden - Lecture Room

What You Will Learn: This workshop will show how you can help to green our neighborhoods, by engaging your neighbors!

  • ·       Learn how to invite residents to adopt a city tree through the Hoʻolāʻau program
  • ·       Practice community engagement skills to help talk with residents about the tree planting program
  • ·       Become familiar with the residential tree care agreement signing and data collection process

This summer, our volunteer Citizen Foresters have been busy identifying suitable planting sites in Olomana and Maunawilli. We have located OVER 300 suitable planting sites in those two areas alone! The Next Steps are to invite residents that live near these sites to adopt a City street tree through the Hoʻolāʻau program.

We are very excited to work with the City & County’s Division of Urban Forestry on this new program and hope you will join us.
