Become part of Hawaii’s conservation story

Join us for our young tree structural pruning class led by Board-Certified Master Arborist Kevin Eckert at Hamakua MarshThis is a free, two-hour hands-on workshop open to the public. Attendees will have the opportunity to get behind the fence at the protected and internationally recognized Ramsar wetland.

We will discuss young tree biology, terminal growth, main stem, growth subordination, and of course, proper pruning techniques. This will be a hands-on class where you will not only learn about trees, but attendees will also be pruning the young trees that have been planted as part of a reforestation effort in the Marsh!

To prepare for the workshop, please bring a pair of by-pass hand shears (if you have), outdoor/hiking shoes, garden gloves, hat, sunglasses, sunblock, insect repellant, water, a raincoat, and a sense of humor. The work may involve rough terrain.

Thank you for your interest in helping young trees grow properly in the Hamakua reforestation effort!

This event is limited to ~25 people, please RSVP to reserve a spot.
