Become part of Hawaii’s conservation story

All high school students from Oahu schools are welcome to participate in this hack-a-thon to build practical experience in using the Design Thinking method to create solutions for sustainability challenges facing our local community. Students will learn about the Mālama Learning Center, a non-profit organization that brings art, science, conservation, and culture together to promote sustainable living throughout Hawai’i. The organization will have an opportunity to describe their work and articulate a few key issues and challenges. Student teams will collaborate to create possible solutions to these challenges and “pitch back” to experts and coaches for feedback. Teams with sustainable solutions may have the opportunity to implement their ideas at the Mālama Learning Center through internships or service learning hours.
