Become part of Hawaii’s conservation story

Waikīkī Aquarium and the Honolulu Mayor’s Office of Culture and the Arts host Seasons and the Sea. Hawaii visitors and residents alike are invited to celebrate the official changing of the seasons, from Hoʻoilo (wet season) to Kauwela (hot or warm-dry season). From 5:30 to 7:00 p.m., cultural advisor Sam ʻOhukaniʻōhiʻa Gon III will lead this free and unique sunset ceremony through chant, hula and moʻolelo (storytelling) as the sun sets into the crown of Pu’u o Kapolei, an occurence that happens only once a year.

From 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., guests can also take part in Hawaiian crafts and cultural activities, included with admission to the Aquarium. The cultural demonstrations include a display of traditional Hawaiian items related to hula, pū for blowing, instruments, and several other items.
