Waikiki Aquarium
Swim over to the Waikīkī Aquarium for the 12th Annual Mauka to Makai Environmental Expo on Saturday, April 20, 2019 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Presented by the City and County of Honolulu’s Department of Facility Maintenance, the Hawaii State Department of Health Clean Water Branch and the Waikīkī Aquarium, the FREE family-friendly expo celebrates Earth Month and promotes keeping Hawaii clean, protected and free of pollution, from the mountaintops to the ocean.
“We’re thrilled to partner with the Aquarium once again in an effort to raise awareness of today’s pressing environmental issues,” said Tonya Ketza, community relations specialist with the City and County of Honolulu’s Storm Water Quality Branch. “In order to keep Hawaiʻi safe and protected for generations to come, we need communities to come together to preserve our land and oceans. We encourage the public to join us at Mauka to Makai and learn more about how they can get involved.”
Guests will enjoy live entertainment, a fish release, native plant giveaway, a kids’ puppet show, and interactive activities from various organizations including hands-on learning, arts and crafts, and educational exhibits that showcase ways to protect and preserve Hawaiʻi’s environment.
The event is free and open to the public. Free parking will be available in the back parking lot at Jefferson Elementary School beginning at 8:45 a.m., with free shuttle to and from the Aquarium courtesy of Waikīkī Trolley. Guests are also invited to bring refillable water bottles to stay hydrated with our water stations.
