Become part of Hawaii’s conservation story

Join Kokua Hawaii Foundation and the Queen Kapiolani Hotel on Sunday, March 17 at 7:00pm for a FREE screening of the film The Smog of the Sea directed by Ian Cheney with music by Jack Johnson, with panel discussion to follow.

The Smog of the Sea chronicles a 1-week journey through the remote waters of the Sargasso Sea. Marine scientist Marcus Eriksen invited onboard an unusual crew to help him study the sea: renowned surfers Keith & Dan Malloy, musician Jack Johnson, spearfisher woman Kimi Werner, and bodysurfer Mark Cunningham become citizen scientists on a mission to assess the fate of plastics in the world’s oceans.

Panel will include Pete Myers, Founder and Chief Scientist at
Environmental Health Sciences, Paul Lecompte of Ben Lecomte The Swim Expedition, and Mark Cunningham, waterman and marine debris artist.
