Become part of Hawaii’s conservation story

The Schatz Seniors high school internship program provides a hands-on learning opportunity about the U.S. Senate and encourages students to be leaders and advocates in their schools and communities.

Activities

  • Working with Senator Schatz’s Outreach Staff
  • Identifying issues of interest in their schools and communities
  • Attending and staffing special events

This is not an office position and students should miss little or no class time performing the tasks or assignments related to the program.  The program uses online tools and communication methods, including weekly video conferences, so students from all islands are encouraged to apply.  The internship generally runs from October - April, and interns must commit for the full term.

Private, public, charter, and homeschool seniors may apply. Students must have a GPA of 2.5 or better and personal access to email throughout the internship.

Application

Completed applications must be submitted by Sunday, September 10, 2017 at 5:59 PM Hawai‘i Standard Time. You should receive a confirmation email after completing your application. If you experience any issues accessing the application or have any questions about the process, please do not hesitate to contact us via phone at (808) 523-2061 or email at highschool_internship@schatz.senate.gov.
