Position Description:
The Hawaiʻi Conservation Alliance (Alliance) is an environmental partnership of 25 federal, state and non- profit organizations that collectively aim to protect native biodiversity through unified leadership and strategic engagement. The Hawaiʻi Conservation Alliance Foundation (Foundation) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit with the purpose and mission to support and advance the capacity building, native ecosystem and biocultural conservation work of the Alliance through fundraising, advocacy, and strategic outreach and communications.
Our Conservation Connection program provides opportunities for conservation professionals as well as the general public to build relationships around conservation through an online tool. The website (www.conservationconnections.org) includes a platform for conservation programs and organizations to post information about what they do, to recruit volunteers, interns, and employees, and to share educational opportunities.
The Alliance and Foundation have also developed a sister site to Connections called Conservation Career Compass which is a career pathways tool for students and emerging professionals pursuing a career in conservation. The two sites share a database and the projects have shared data management and outreach activities.
The Conservation Connections Assistant will conduct in-person and digital outreach and will support volunteer activities through the Connections program. This will include working directly with users of the Conservation Connections site to ensure content is current and relevant, attending outreach events, and creating and posting content on various social media platforms. In cooperation with Alliance and Foundation staff and members, the Assistant will also support the annual Hawaiʻi Conservation Conference, mobile/web application, events and meetings, newsletters, and other outreach materials.
Major Tasks:

Mobilizing Community Volunteers (45%)
a. Volunteer engagement is conducted through management of the Conservation Connections website and outreach through social media and events
3. Habitat Restoration and Native Planting (10%)
Desirable Qualifications: Independent, creative and self-motivated; strong interpersonal and written communication skills; familiarity with Microsoft Office applications and various web-based social media tools. Willingness/comfortable with engaging with community members, partners, and stakeholders. Database management.
Schedule: 40 hours per week; primarily in an office setting with periodic weekend and evening work
