POSITION DUTIES:
This is a full-time AmeriCorps VISTA position that will report to both Kupu’s Development Manager and Marketing & Outreach Manager. AmeriCorps VISTA members are volunteers in national service who make a year-long, full-time commitment to build the capacity of organizations positively impacting lowincome communities. Position duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Provide support for on-boarding a constituent relationship management system which will track donor information as well as data on participants, alumni, partners, funders, and other constituents. Assist with collecting, compiling, cleaning, and importing constituent data. Document policies/procedures for data collection, entry, reporting, system access, troubleshooting, etc. Help train staff on how to use the system.
- Increase organizational capacity to initiate and sustain an annual giving program. Brainstorm and pitch campaigns, cultivation strategies, and other ideas for acquiring donors.Create a calendar that accounts for all fundraising activities as well as donor communications and touch points throughout the year. Outline a stewardship plan for the purpose of retaining donors. Research other nonprofit giving societies and recommend best practices. Identify appropriate metrics for reporting on annual giving results/progress.
- Develop a suite of compelling fundraising content. Refine key fundraising messages/cases for support tailored to specific segments of prospective donors. Streamline the collection and organization of inspiring stories, testimonies/quotes, and photos from participants and program staff. Assist in writing templates for appeals, acknowledgments, and other donor communications tailored to specific segments of prospective donors.

ELIGIBILITY:
In order to be considered for this position, one must meet the following requirements:
- Available full-time (40 hours/week) Monday through Friday from end of April 2016 through end of April 2017
- Must be 18 years or older
- US Citizen or a Lawful Permanent Resident
- Not listed on the National Sex Offenders Public Registry
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
An applicant must meet the following qualifications in order to be considered for the position:
- Bachelors degree
- Strong writing and computer skills
- Detail-oriented and organized
- Resourceful, hard-working, creative, and flexible
- Team-oriented with a positive attitude
- Demonstrates mature judgment, service orientation, and sensitivity in handling public relations, donor interactions, and confidential information
- Demonstrates good interpersonal skills and an ability to represent Kupu in a positive, professional, and approachable manner
- Interest in and enthusiasm for Kupu’s mission and programs
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
It is preferred that the applicant has the following qualifications:
- One or more year of any administrative assistance experience
- Education and/or experience in marketing, communications, and fundraising
- Skills in storytelling, graphic design, and management of websites, social media, or databases
- Prior knowledge of Hawaii and local culture
