Become part of Hawaii’s conservation story

Applications for our 15th annual Wahi Kūpuna Internship Program (WKIP) are due THIS WEEK, March 22, 2024!

This year, the WKIP will be held in the ahupuaʻa of Keālia, Kona Hema, Hawaiʻi. We will be working closely with the community to research and document the moʻolelo, oral histories, and wahi kupuna of Keālia's traditional agricultural field system to aid in the eventual clearing and restoration of this ancient food system for ʻāina based education and food production.

Emerging professionals and college students (undergraduate or graduate) in any Community Colleges or Universities are eligible to apply. Preference will be given to emerging professionals and students in Hawaiian Studies, Anthropology, Archaeology, Geography, Planning, or related resource management fields. Preference will also be given to students with ties and commitments to live and work in Hawaiʻi.
