Variety of conservation and cultural sites across Oʻahu
Registration is open for Kupu's Kōkua Camp!
Kupus Kōkua Camp is intended for Hawaiʻi youth, ages 12-17 year old, who want to learn about Hawaiʻi's culture and natural resources through hands on experiencetial project based learning. This summer Kupu will provide four weeks of Kupu Kōkua Camp. The program is scheduled Monday through Friday 8:00 am - 3:00 pm. Participants will travel to various conservation and cultural sites across Oʻahu learning about the importance of mālama ʻāina. Each week has a different theme and will be focused on that theme with specific activities, lessons, topics, places visited, and interaction with professionals/experts in related career fields. Week 1 (JUNE 17-21) - KAI focus will be on the ocean and beach regions of our islands, including the plants and animals that reside within these areas.
Week 2 (JUNE 24-28) - WAI focus will be on Hawaii’s streams and waterways, including the plants and animals that reside within these areas.
Week 3 (JULY 15-19) - ʻĀINA focus will be on food sustainability, “'ʻāina momona”. Participants will visit various farms including cultural food systems like loko iʻa, and loʻi.
Week 4 (JULY 22-26) - LANI focus will be on all things within our celestial realm, such as stars, moon, planets, winds, clouds, and birds.
Drop-off and pick-up locations will be in the following locations: Honolulu, Kailua, and Kapolei
Program Cost is $200/week. Particiapnts may select one or all weeks. Financial Aid (50% off) is available for eligible applicants with proof of Federal Support. To participate in Kōkua Camp, apply HERE and make the full payment by the deadline of June 1st 2019. Space is limited and applications are processed on a first come first serve basis.
