DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist MLT Project Coordinator in stewardship activities on MLT lands and contracted sites.  These activities would include, but are not restricted to: invasive species control (hand, mechanical, or herbicide), erosion control, nursery work, seed collecting, outplanting, weed control, fencing and fence maintenance, predator control, maintenance of archaeological sites, road and utilities maintenance, and/or equipment maintenance.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Strong work ethic, physical prowess, willingness/ability to learn new tasks quickly, attention to detail, good attitude, excellent communication skills, interest in restoration ecology, basic computer skills, knowledge of Hawaiian native plants, ability to handle small power equipment, basic first aid skills, & able to work as a team member.

SPECIAL SKILLS/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED:

Members must be able to work under extreme conditions in a demanding environment.  Most of the work is located on the NW Coast of Molokai, which is hot, dry, sunny, and windy most of the time.  Activities occur in sandy to rocky terrain (flat to sloped) and involve invasive species removal including kiawe and other thorny plants.  Shelter from the elements is limited most of the time (other than vehicles).

OTHER INFORMATION:

               Days and Hours of Operation: Monday through Friday 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM

               Schedule may be shifted to four 10- hour days 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM as requested by site supervisor.

We are looking for individuals that are interested in developing a long-term relationship with the land through Molokai Land Trust.
