Regular, Full-Time, RCUH Non-Civil Service position with the School of Ocean and Earth Science and Technology (SOEST), Joint Institute for Marine and Atmospheric Research (JIMAR), University of Hawai‘i Sea Level Center (UHSLC), located at the University of Hawai‘i at Manoa, in Honolulu, Hawai‘i.  Continuation of employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, availability of funds, and compliance with applicable Federal/State laws. 

MONTHLY SALARY:  Salary commensurate with qualifications.

DUTIES:  Develops Graphical User Interface (GUI) based Python applications for quality control and analysis of sea level data.  Develops and maintains web-based data visualization products for the UHSLC website and potentially other organizations.  Provides scientific programming support for UHSLC researchers.  Helps manage UHSLC website content. 

PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION/TRAINING:  Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Oceanography, or a related field.  EXPERIENCE:  Three to five (3-5) years of experience developing software for data analysis, quality control, and visualization.  At least one (1) year of experience developing GUI applications.  ABIL/KNOW/SKILLS:  Extensive knowledge of Python and JavaScript programming languages.  Knowledge of at least one (1) Python GUI framework (e.g., PyQt).  Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and website development.  Knowledge of UNIX-like command-line environments and operating systems (e.g., Linux, macOS).  Working knowledge of basic mathematics and statistics for data analysis and quality control.  Working knowledge of common scientific data formats (NetCDF, CSV, XML, JSON, etc.).  Ability to work on multiple projects in parallel.  Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.  Ability to solicit input from colleagues and tailor application development to the needs of UHSLC employees.  POLICY AND/OR REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS:  As a condition of employment, employee will be subject to all applicable RCUH policies and procedures and, as applicable, subject to University of Hawai‘i's and/or business entity's policies and procedures.  Violation of RCUH's, UH's, or business entity's policies and/or procedures or applicable State or Federal laws and/or regulations may lead to disciplinary action (including, but not limited to possible termination of employment, personal fines, civil and/or criminal penalties, etc.). 

SECONDARY QUALIFICATIONS:  Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Oceanography, or a related field.
