Hi`ipaka LLC, Waimea Valley on the North Shore of Oahu (Haleiwa) is seeking a Conservation Manager to work with our Botanical Group Manager to develop and implement strategic and operational plans for the preservation and enhancement of the valley. The Conservation Manager will be responsible for overseeing the investigation, study, maintenance and management of the ecological resources and ecosystems in Waimea Valley.

Knowledge Requirements: 

Must be able to read site maps and landscape plans. 
Must be knowledgeable about conservation issues and practices, including conservation activities necessary to maintain and manage the natural resources, including but not limited to, native forest ecosystems, feral animal management, fence installation and maintenance, invasive weed control, endangered species habitat enhancement and propagation of plants.
Must be able to write and implement medium to large size grants.
Must have working knowledge regarding the propagation, selection, planting, maintenance, documentation, labeling, database systems and mapping of botanical collections.
Must be people-oriented and able to work well with others.
Must be organized and self-starter. Must exercise independent judgment to prioritize projects and respond to situations as they arise without direct supervision.
Must have good oral and written communication skills.
Must project a professional demeanor.

Educational and Training Requirements:

Must have a Bachelor's degree and preferably a graduate degree in Environmental Science, Land Resource Management, Conservation or related field.
At least 3 years of work experience in the conservation field related to native forestry and native ecosystems is required.
Prior experience with Hawaii conservation issues preferred.
Must have knowledge of the use of GPS and GIS.
Valid driver's license required.


This is a full time position and regular attendance on a daily basis is required. Waimea Valley is a seven day a week operation and night and weekend work is required.
