The NTBG is currently seeking a Conservation Operations Manager to collaboratively lead a professional team on multiple, ongoing conservation projects in Limahuli Preserve, located on the north shore of Kaua`i. These include habitat protection, forest restoration, incipient weed control, vertebrate pest control, ecological monitoring, and other related projects. Primary responsibilities include coordinating staff and work plans according to long-, medium-, and short-term goals; managing finances and budgets; reporting on grants and contracts; and being a hub of communication for internal and external stakeholders. Applicant must have demonstrated leadership experience, a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree (in natural resource management, botany, conservation biology, ecology, or a closely related field of study, and at least 5 years of related field experience); or a Master’s degree in a closely related field of study, and at least 2 years of related field experience.  Applicants must also be willing to spend up to 50% of work time throughout the year in remote overnight field camps, including trips of up to five days duration; must be able to lift and carry packs weighing up to 1/3 of their body weight along steep/rugged/slippery terrain; must be able to work in inclement weather; and must be willing and able to euthanize trapped animals, and operate firearms safely. Experience in the following is highly desirable: helicopter operations, ecological monitoring, horticultural practices, invasive species removal, data entry, GPS and communication protocols, GIS software, animal trapping, working with exclusion fences, and working with volunteers.
