This position is located in the Archaeology Branch and has supervisory responsibilities over the island of Hawaii. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: responding to the discovery of human skeletal remains; conducting historic preservation reviews for federal, state and county undertakings; conducting field inspections to verify completion of archaeological work or to assess the need for archaeological surveys; assisting and advising public and private agencies on State law, regulations and procedures for the island of Hawaii's archaeological projects; undertaking inventory surveys of historic properties; reviewing the effects of development projects on historic properties; assisting in the preparation of Hawaii and National Register nomination forms; and performing administrative duties such as assisting in drafting policies, objectives and operational plans for the island of Hawaii. Performs other duties as assigned.
