The South Kohala Marine Coordinator establishes and manages collaborations focused on refining and implementing strategies outlined in the South Kohala Conservation Action Plan (http://dlnr.hawaii.gov/coralreefs/south-kohala/). This is a 12 month, full-time position based in Waimea, Hawai‘i Island. The South Kohala Coordinator works with the South Kohala Coastal Partnership to accomplish the following: • Facilitate timely communications among partners, DAR staff, and ocean user community • Strengthen and maintain partner engagement • Identify and promote management priorities from existing plans • Develop and implement work plans for priority actions • Identify and secure resources necessary for work plan implementation • Implement priority on the ground and in the water actions • Convene annual meeting of the 50 plus member South Kohala Conservation Action Plan Network • Facilitate meetings of diverse stakeholders as needed to accomplish specific objectives • Share information and updates with scientists, managers, practitioners, decision makers and general public Please complete an online application at www.nature.org/careers and upload a resume and cover letter by October 23, 2015. Minimum Qualifications: • BA/BS/AS/Technical or vocational degree in management or science-related field and at least one year related experience in ecological research, natural resource management, community coordination, planning, or equivalent combination of education and experience • Knowledge and experience with coastal marine systems and coral reef fisheries in Hawai‘i or Pacific Islands, either as a participant, manager, researcher, or educator • Experience organizing and facilitating meetings and workshops • Experience managing networks or collaborations of cross functional teams or community groups • Experience organizing and compiling large amounts of information (managing data, email, papers, reports) • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and complete tasks independently and on time • Proficiency with MS Office word processing, spreadsheet, and e-mail software
