Conservation Field Crew Member
Full Time
A Conservation Field Crew Member will act as a representative of Pono Pacific, with a primary focus of completing restoration activities that help preserve Hawaiʻi’s native ecosystems. A Conservation Field Crew Member will act in the best interest of the company, act in the best interest of other employees, and act in a fair, safe, effective, and legal manner.
This position carries out general labor work, under close supervision by a Crew Leader and/or Project Manager, in the conservation field to help with the preservation of native ecosystems. The Predator Control Crew Member will be primarily responsible for maintaining traps of predators that threaten native bird species throughout various remote areas on Oʻahu.
Duties may include:
• Intense hiking
• Removing invasive species to protect and enhance native species populations
• Monitoring wildlife and recording data
• Maintenance of traps
• Maintenance of trails
• Other general field work, possibly using hand and power tools
Specific Position Goals/Expectations:
• Hold an interest in preserving Hawaiʻi’s native plants and animals
• Possess a good attitude and willingness to learn
• Give 100% effort each day
• Ability to follow directions and work independently
• Possess your own reliable vehicle
• Possess a valid driver’s license
• Ability to pass a background check/gain military base access clearance
• Be experienced, willing, and able to perform physically challenging work, especially strenuous hiking in harsh conditions for 8 hours a day
• Ability to lift and carry a minimum 50 pounds
• Openly communicate observations/questions to fellow Conservation Field Crew Members, Crew Leader, and/or Project Manager
