Horticulture Specialist Hi`ipaka LLC, Waimea Valley on the North Shore of Oahu is seeking a Horticulture Specialist to work with the Botanical Group Manager to develop programs that cultivate, maintain and preserve the botanical collection in Waimea Valley. Position Requirements: • Able to assist and supervise botanical staff to ensure proper identification, preservation, training of staff and enhancement of botanical collection • Able to supervise gardeners to obtain a high level of properly maintained and functional gardens • Must be able to read site maps and landscape plans; be familiar with inventory control, labeling & database systems for botanical collections • Must be able to use standard horticulture tools, equipment, be familiar with standard office equipment & software including Excel, Word, Outlook and various database programs • Able to assist in providing necessary management and training to volunteers • Must have a valid Hawaii Driver’s License • Must be organized and self-starter. • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills. • Must project a professional demeanor. Educational/Training Requirements: • A degree in Environmental Science, Resource Management or related field (or equivalent work experience) • Two years of supervisory experience Hi`ipaka LLC offers a competitive salary and has excellent benefits- medical; dental, vision etc.; company match 401K program and life insurance. This is a full time position and regular attendance on a daily basis is required. Waimea Valley is a seven day a week operation and night and weekend work is required.
