The Assistant Marine Coordinator participates in marine conservation operations including the maintenance, management and development and coordination of conservation and research programs. This may include one or more of the following functions: · Collects, stores, and analyzes scientific data · Leads work teams · Supervises volunteers and coordinates partners · Furthers the Conservancy’s strategic goals · Coordinates community support · Develops and implements marine management plans · Communicates publicly in a professional manner · Removes exotic species and monitors & researches species distributions · Maintains tools and equipment · Maintains open communication with staff and partners Ideal candidates will have experience working in marine systems in West Hawai‘i, understanding of marine management and policy in West Hawai‘i and the Pacific, experience training and supervising volunteers to conduct field research, and be AAUS scientific diver certified.
