Marine Microbial Genomics Research Associate

Collaborates with lab manager to develop and implement protocols for high throughput, robotically enabled Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) and Ribonucleic Acid (RNA) extraction. Implements protocols for generating high throughput, robotically enabled DNA and RNA sequencing libraries, for use on next generation sequencing platforms. Sequences DNA and RNA sequencing libraries using next generation DNA sequencing platforms. Manages and organizes high throughput DNA sequence data streams using a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). Assists in the coordination, scheduling and organization of sequencing efforts among laboratory personnel. Supervises Student Assistants. Orders supplies and equipment. Performs laboratory instrument and culture collection maintenance and organization. Participates in field research.
