Position Summary:
CEMML is a research, education, and service unit within the Warner College of Natural Resources at Colorado State University (CSU). CEMML applies the latest and most appropriate science to promote the sustainable management of natural and cultural resources on Department of Defense (DoD) and other public lands. We provide technical support, conduct applied research, and offer career development and learning opportunities to support resource stewardship. We collaborate with our sponsors and within CSU to resolve complex environmental issues.

A GIS Specialist position is available with the Center for Environmental Management of Military Lands (CEMML). This position provides GIS and spatial services support to the US Army Garrison Hawaii (USAG-HI) Directorate of Public Works (DPW) environmental GIS database and Master Planning Division intranet site to include civil infrastructure and utilities. Responsibilities include updating and editing GIS data as needed, field data collection with GPS and map creation and printing. The employee will also be responsible for ensuring the GIS data meets all data standards outlined by the Army. The position is located at Wheeler Army Airfield which is located on Schofield Barracks, Oahu, Hawaii.

The successful candidate must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. by proposed start date; CEMML will not provide visa sponsorship for this position.

Required Qualifications:    

  • A BS or BA degree.
  • Experience in the management of geospatial data within the ESRI suite of products or similar relevant experience.

    Candidates are required at a minimum to complete a NACI/SF85 and successfully pass a federal background check to remain eligible for employment by CSU.
  • Must be able to comply with all applicable regulations to obtain a Department of Defense Common Access Card (CAC) and public trust clearance:
  • In order to be eligible for a CAC, a non-U.S. nationals must have resided in the U.S. or U.S. territory for three or more consecutive years for the required Tier 1 HSPD-12 CAC credentialing background investigation.
