Position Summary:

CEMML is a research, education, and service unit within the Warner College of Natural Resources at Colorado State University (CSU). CEMML applies the latest and most appropriate science to promote the sustainable management of natural and cultural resources on Department of Defense (DoD) and other public lands. We provide technical support, conduct applied research, and offer career development and learning opportunities to support resource stewardship. We collaborate with our sponsors and within CSU to resolve complex environmental issues.

An Environmental Compliance Specialist position is available with Colorado State University and the Center for Environmental Management of Military Lands(CEMML) supporting installation natural resource and compliance programs and initiatives for Kaena Point Satellite Tracking Station (KPSTS). Position is located at KPSTS on Oahu, HI. Position provides review of environmental compliance issues, NEPA actions and documents, coordinates and attends stakeholder meetings and recommends natural resource and compliance management activities to Command to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as Air Force Instructions. Moving allowance is available; conditions apply.

This position may be part-time remote possible, but only as a hybrid schedule. Final selectee must live/relocate to Oahu.

Required Qualifications:             

  • B.S in biology, environmental science, engineering, or closely related field, plus five years of experience supporting environmental compliance programs.
  • Applicants must be familiar with all aspects of environmental compliance programs, including storage tanks, pollution prevention, solid and hazardous waste and reporting.
  • Proven experience of successfully working collaboratively with stakeholders, such as
  • USFWS and state fish and wildlife agencies.
  • Experience supporting audits and inspections for compliance, permits, variances and notifications.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain a driver’s license by the employment start date.
  • The successful candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States by proposed start date. CEMML will not provide visa sponsorship for this position.
