Position Title: Hawaiʻi Conservation Alliance Coordinator 

This temporary hire position will support the Hawaiʻi Conservation Alliance (Alliance) through coordination of the partnership and planning for the Hawaiʻi Conservation Conference. The Alliance is  a partnership of 27 different organizations and agencies that works collaboratively to protect and restore the biocultural resources of Hawaiʻi. We are guided by a steering committee that meets quarterly and our projects are guided and implemented through 6 subcommittees that serve as working groups and meet monthly to quarterly. A major project of the Alliance is the annual Hawaiʻi Conservation Conference which includes 200+ presenters and 1000+ attendees hosted in the summer. 

Location: Hawaiʻi Conservation Alliance (University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa) 

Duties:  

  • Coordinate Hawaiʻi Conservation Alliance steering committee meetings including supporting scheduling, logistics, facilitation, and note-taking 

  • Schedule and facilitate subcommittee meetings 

  • Schedule and facilitate conference planning committee meetings 

  • Coordinate Hawaiʻi Conservation Conference abstract review process including utilizing digital systems to facilitate abstract reviews, preparing review packets, and coordinating abstract committee meetings 

  • Prepare Hawaiʻi Conservation Conference draft schedule  

 

Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in related field and at least 2 years of experience working in biocultural resource conservation in Hawaiʻi OR 

  • Associate’s Degree from an accredited college or university in related field and at least 4 years of experience working in biocultural resource conservation in Hawaiʻi 

  • Must have strong interpersonnal communication skills. 

  • Skilled with online scheduling, videoconferencing, and shared file systems, in addition to being comfortable with learning new software needed for completion of tasks 

  • Must be highly organized and detail-oriented 

  • Must be able to reliably work independently and within a group 

  • Preferred at least 1 year experience working with coordinating projects across multiple partners 

  • Preferred experience creating agendas and facilitating meetings 

 

Schedule/Availability 

  • Start immediately and able to work up to 40 hours per week for up to 20 weeks  

  • Must be able to work in-person in Honolulu, Oʻahu (hybrid schedule may be possible) 

 

Pay rate 

  • $25-30/hr
