This position is a Resource Conservationist located on the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) State Resource Conservationist's Staff headquartered at the State Office. The primary purpose of the position is to serve as a specialist for conservation planning and quality assurance.
Provides direct assistance and training to field office staff in the development of all types of conservation plans including food security act compliance, progressive, resource management system, and area or watershed-wide plans.
Supports field office staff in implementing National and State Conservation Planning Policy, Planning Procedures, and planning requirements of the Field Office Technical Guide.
Provides support and technical expertise for NRCS responsibilities under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).
Provides guidance or participates in project formulation and evaluation of alternatives to solve environmental problems and issues as part of an interdisciplinary team.
Provides technical input to the GIS Specialist for the inventory and evaluation of natural resources and effective use of agency approved electronic business tools for planning, customer service, and conservation assistance progress reporting.
Collaborates with in-state and out-of-state technical specialists and support staffs, NRCS National Technology Support Centers, consultants, the academic community, and other members of the State Technical Committee preparing technical material
Provides training and support to all NRCS employees, partners, and private sector technical service providers seeking and or maintaining Certified Conservation Planner status.
