Regular, Full-Time, RCUH Non-Civil Service position with the University of Hawai‘i Marine Center (UHMC), located in Honolulu, Hawai‘i.  Continuation of employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, availability of funds, and compliance with applicable Federal/State laws. 

MONTHLY SALARY:  Salary commensurate with qualifications. 

DUTIES:  Performs administrative and clerical duties for the Marine Center.  Coordinates and executes all personnel, fiscal and accounting related matters, provides administrative support to ship operations, and provides general office management support. 

PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION

Associate’s Degree from an accredited community college or junior college in related field.  (High School Diploma and four to six (4-6) years of administrative and clerical work experience which involved coordinating fiscal and personnel actions, and demonstrated ability to perform job functions may be substituted for an Associate’s Degree).

EXPERIENCE

At least four (4) years of experience performing administrative, fiscal, personnel, procurement, general office administrative duties in a dynamic environment. Experience working in customer service/support of a broad range of clientele is highly preferred.

KNOWLEDGE

Knowledge of office administration, work processes/flows, clerical work, use of business applications, and office equipment. Knowledge of professional business communications (verbal and written) and customer service.  Must have problem solving skills, judgment, and possess attention to detail skills.  Knowledge of RCUH policies and procedures.

ABILITIES & SKILLS

Ability to work in a dynamic operational environment with constant changes in schedules, personnel, budgets, and workload.  Should enjoy a constantly changing operational setting and demonstrate flexibility and initiative in handling different tasks on any given day. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and high-volume work environment while assisting supervisor, Director, managers, and employees via frequent phone calls and emails, daily. Ability to work and complete assignments efficiently, accurately, and independently. Ability to follow directions and complete work processes with thoroughness and accuracy. Good verbal and written communication skills. Proficient in keyboarding (i.e., acceptable speed and accuracy). Proficient in MS Word and MS Excel applications, email, Internet, and general abilities to use data base software. Post Offer/Employment Condition: Must acknowledge, sign, and adhere to the University of Hawai’i Marine Center Code of Conduct for all UH Marine Center employees. Must be able to pass a post offer criminal background check for working with highly confidential and sensitive information which includes being fingerprinted and having a federal background check performed. Must be able to complete the UH Information Security Awareness Training (ISAT) within two (2) weeks from date of hire, and re-certify every twelve (12) months.

SECONDARY QUALIFICATIONS:    

Knowledge of RCUH policies and procedures; ship operations. Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university.
