Regular, Full-Time, RCUH, Non-Civil Service position with the Pacific Cooperative Studies Unit (PCSU), in support of the Marine Wildlife Program (MWP), Division of Aquatic Resources (DAR) located on the island of Hawaii. Continuation of employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, availability of funds, and compliance with applicable Federal/State laws. Creates, develops, and implements a comprehensive education and outreach program on the Island of Hawaii regarding monk seals and sea turtles. Builds a working relationship with on-island State and Federal government agencies, Non-Government Organizations (NGO’s), and volunteers to conduct education and outreach to the fishing community and general public related to monk seal and sea turtle interactions. Incorporates State and Federal agency policies and practices in developing and implementing the program to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and directives. Responsible for coordinating outreach events, maintaining and developing community relationships, and developing new outreach products. In addition, responsible for assisting in marine mammal, monk seal, and sea turtle emergency response efforts.
