The National Tropical Botanical Garden has an immediate opening for a full time Conservation Technician at our Limahuli Garden and Preserve location in Haena, Kauai. 

 

Position assists with technical functions of programs in Limahuli Preserve—including but not limited to In Situ restoration, Ex Situ conservation, incipient invasive control, predator control, plant collection activities, and research. Record keeping to assist with Grants is also included.

 

The successful candidate has the ability to work in remote field operations up to 50% of the time (up to a week at a time), work outdoors all day in variable weather conditions at tasks demanding walking, hiking, and carrying packs weighing at least 1/3 of body weight, but not more than 60 pounds. Must be willing to participate in helicopter air-lifts, and negotiate steep terrain.

 

Requires Bachelors degree, and at least one year of field experience in conservation or ecological restoration in Hawai`i, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.
