MARINE EDUCATION & OUTREACH ASSISTANT (KAUA'I)

Regular, Full-Time, RCUH Non-Civil Service position with the Pacific Cooperative Studies Unit (PCSU), in support of the Marine Wildlife Program (MWP), Division of Aquatic Resources (DAR), located on the island of Kauai. Continuation of employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, availability of funds, and compliance with applicable Federal/State laws.
Joins the Kauai Marine Mammal Response Network team in conducting education and outreach to the fishing community related to monk seal and sea turtle interactions. Responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with the fishing community. Implements education and outreach messages and approaches to the fishing community. In addition, responsible for assisting in monk seal and sea turtle response efforts and marine mammal stranding.
A few key points to consider:
- We are looking for people with real world, on the ground experience (academic training is secondary). For example, on Kauai, two (2) years of additional work experience in environmental science, marine science, or with education and community programs may substitute for an Associate’s Degree.
