Regular, Full-Time, RCUH Non-Civil Service position with the Social Science Research Institute (SSRI), Hawai‘i Coral Reef Initiative (HCRI). Primary work location will be at the Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR), Division of Aquatic Resources (DAR) Office in Honolulu, Hawai‘i. Telework (from employee’s residence city, Hawai‘i) may be permissible subject to review and approval by Principal Investigator and RCUH. Continuation of employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, availability of funds, and compliance with applicable Federal/State laws.
MINIMUM MONTHLY SALARY: $3,333/Mon.
DUTIES: Monitors Holomua social media sites for questions about the program. Communicates questions to Holomua team for review and collaborates to answer questions. Analyzes trends and topics while finding unique ways to integrate them into the initiative. Coordinates with Holomua team to plan and create social media content to promote the Holomua initiative. Generates, edits, publishes, and shares daily content (e.g., original text, images, video or HTML) that contributes to meaningful outreach and education. Develops content for public outreach, meetings, presentations, and email communications related to the Holomua initiative. Assists with writing and editing responses to community questions about the State’s Holomua initiative, project documents, and other written materials. Helps to compile and update standard operating procedures. Identifies opportunities to influence public perception through audience engagement and publicly speaking about the initiative’s social media strategy. Drives to attend meetings. Develops social media moderation policies and procedures. Captures and analyzes appropriate social data/metrics, insights, and best practices.
PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION |
Associate’s Degree from an accredited community college. |
EXPERIENCE |
One to three (1-3) years of experience working with a variety of stakeholders or community members in Hawai‘i. Demonstratable social media experience. |
KNOWLEDGE |
Knowledge of various social media platforms, and digital communication principles, techniques, and methods to produce information for internal and external audiences. Knowledge and understanding of local nearshore fishing practices and culture. Knowledge of cross-cultural communication. Knowledge of proper public contact etiquette. |
ABILITIES & SKILLS |
Possesses solid computer skills and excellent interpersonal and organizational skills. Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills, including following instructions, interpreting materials, and selecting pertinent information. Ability to maintain a high degree of accuracy and precision. Ability to prioritize work to meet/set deadlines and produce written documents in a timely fashion. Ability to perform job duties under minimal supervision. Ability to work independently or as part of a team and with diverse user groups, cultures, and personalities. Ability to respect varying perspectives and be a positive team player. Ability to effectively conduct work remotely (e.g., telework) as applicable. Must possess an understanding of the social and cultural environment of the locality. Must possess a valid driver’s license (and if use of personal vehicle on the job is required, must also have valid personal driver’s insurance equivalent to Hawai‘i’s No-Fault Driver’s Insurance) and maintain throughout the duration of employment. |

SECONDARY QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university. Experience working on social media projects in Hawai‘i. Familiarity with the State’s Holomua initiatives. Ability to leverage the use of a variety of media, social networking, and mobile technologies to translate technical and scientific information into formats that are easily understood by diverse communities, cultures, and people of all ages. |
