Regular, Full-Time, RCUH Non-Civil Service position with the Social Science Research Institute (SSRI), Hawai‘i Coral Reef Initiative (HCRI). Primary work location will be at the Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR), Division of Aquatic Resources (DAR) Office in Honolulu, Hawai‘i. Telework (from employee’s residence city and state) may be permissible subject to review and approval by Principal Investigator and RCUH. Continuation of employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, availability of funds, and compliance with applicable Federal/State laws.
MINIMUM MONTHLY SALARY: $4,000/Mon.
DUTIES: Researches and identifies funding opportunities through online searches and meetings with biologists. Assists with writing and building application packets by conducting interviews with biologists and project leads to articulate goals, objectives, tasks, timelines, and budgets. Tracks and monitors projects progress against the original project plan and deliverables. Ensures tasks and reporting requirements are occurring in a timely manner and highlights deviations so the project can stay on track. Facilitates information exchange between biologists and key administrative staff related to deliverables and timelines. Collaborates with partner organizations to track budgetary match funds. Researches regulations for grant funding to ensure requirements are met and works with biologists to implement. Packages progress and final reports and deliverables for submission by project leads. Writes standard operating procedures for grant applications and tracking.
PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION |
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university in English, Planning, Social Sciences, Communications, or related field. |
EXPERIENCE |
Two to four (2-4) years of work experience with a significant amount of detailed-oriented work involving writing tasks. Experience includes at least one (1) year of grant writing tasks. |
KNOWLEDGE |
Knowledge of report writing and spreadsheets. Knowledge of effective writing and communication techniques. Knowledge of budget development, fiscal procedures, and general research. Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel. |
ABILITIES & SKILLS |
Must possess strong written communication skills. Ability to prepare written reports. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), Google Suite, and web conferencing platforms. Ability to compile, assimilate, organize, and store electronic files. Ability to review, compile and analyze information to prepare reports. Ability to check work for accuracy before completion of tasks. Ability to work efficiently and effectively to meet multiple, frequent, and short notice deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment. Ability to build and maintain ongoing, collaborative, working relationships with coworkers to achieve the goals of the work unit. Ability to effectively conduct work remotely (e.g., telework) as applicable. Post Offer/Employment Condition: Must be able to pass a post offer criminal background check. |

SECONDARY QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s Degree or Juris Doctor from an accredited college or university. Experience administering grants or relevant policies and regulations with regards to natural resource administration. |
