Performs duties as a member of an interdisciplinary research team associated with the Institute of Pacific Islands Forestry (USFS, Pacific Southwest Research Station (PSW)). Coordinates with staff and scientists within PSW and outside organizations to accomplish the objectives of an internally funded research program the Hawai’i Experimental Tropical Forest (HETF). Responsible for a variety of recurring and complex duties/skills in support of the HETF Program, in coordination with the IPIF Director. Conducts research that results in plans, prioritization, and implementation of watershed protection and restoration projects based on the Draft HETF Management Plan. Develops, implements, and manages fencing, ungulate and weed control, reforestation, public outreach, education activities, and other watershed management projects by using HETF staff, volunteers, contributing partners, or subcontractors.
