A Senior Environmental Scientist position is needed in Belt Collins Hawaii’s to pursuit and fully integrate design with environmental aspects.The Senior Environmental Scientist provides major contributions to the Environmental Department and the firm as a whole in the following areas: marketing, client contact, project management, quality assurance and mentoring.

These are briefly described below:. The Senior Environmental Scientist is responsible for marketing the services of his/her own department as well as those of other departments and offices. He/she coordinates with others to obtain new work in Hawaii and possible mainland and overseas. Travel may be a requirement of this position. The Senior Environmental Scientist develops business with a focus on clients and new markets in areas relating to environmental design. This is accomplished through client contacts and preparation of proposals, and involvement in professional and community organizations. In addition, the position is encouraged to highlight the Company’s expertise and accomplishments through speaking engagements and publications. The Senior Environmental Scientist serves as a key point of contact for specific multi-disciplinary projects, and in situations where his/her specialized expertise is required to solve a problem or address an issue. The Senior Environmental Scientist also cultivates and maintains contacts with prospective clients and nurtures relationships with existing clients. On many projects, this person is a project manager, which includes preparing the proposal, negotiating scope and fee, directing and conducting the work, and monitoring progress in terms of schedule and fee.

Skills/Knowledge: This position plays a key role on multidisciplinary projects that require his/her specialized expertise. Must have excellent interpersonal communication skills. The Senior Environmental Scientist plays a lead role in setting standards for excellence in technical analysis, problem solving, preparation of presentation materials and reports, and other facets of our work. As a senior scientist in the firm, he/she is responsible for ensuring and implementing quality assurance/quality control procedures and for providing technical advice on projects managed by others that have a science component. This position will or shall provide guidance within the firm in his/her area of expertise. Mentoring is not limited to assisting less experienced staff. It also includes sharing experiences within the context of a project team or department to advance and promote technical quality and ideas in the best interest of the firm. A bachelors degree is required in a related field; a masters is preferred. Included in this overall description are other related duties as assigned.
